THE ANTELOPE VALLEY GEM AND MINERAL CLUB
The Antelope Valley is located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. Located in the high desert, it is an area known for our amazing bright orange poppies that sprout up in the spring time as well as our Joshua trees, as reflected in our club patch.
WE ARE AN ACTIVE CLUB. If you are interested, please come to our meetings. We are having in-person meetings held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 42521 20th Street West, Lancaster. We have board meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
The programs offered are:
The club holds a summer picnic at our end of the year party. We also provide scholarships to local college students.
A field trip to study geology and to gather mineral and lapidary materials is offered each month during cooler months. Club lapidary equipment (saws, grinders, and polishers) is available for members to use to work up material found on these trips.
The Antelope Valley Gem and Mineral Club sponsors a free gem and mineral show in the Spring (usually April or May). We are also active in the Antelope Valley Fair held at the end of September.
The club is affiliated with the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and California Federation Mineralogical Societies. The American Federation of Mineralogical Societies is a not-for-profit corporation, serving as the parent organization for the seven Regional Federations throughout the United States. These are:
