SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT USED IN ROCK COLLECTING ...
Large Rock Pick
The large pick is used for digging and prying out rocks in the dirt. It can also be used to move a medium amount of dirt. There are two types of picks. The large pick (pictured) can weigh up to ten pounds, but there is also a small pick or a rock hammer (not pictured). The rock hammer is used for moving small rock and dirt. The rock hammer can also be used to break small ends of rock to see what the rock looks like inside.
Sledge Hammer
Sledge hammers are used to hit chisels or other types of tools. Sledge hammers get
out tough material from hard rock surfaces or hard pan mining rock. There are two types of sledge hammers. The one pictured can be used to hit small to medium chisels to get between small cracks or rocks. The larger type of sledge hammer (not pictured) can pound 20 to 30 pound chisels into very hard surfaces to get very precious materials. This type of Sledge hammer can weigh between 20 to 50 pounds.

Chisels
Chisels are used for many different reasons. Chisels can help pry out a rock from a crack or other fracture. There are three types of chisels. The small type can pry out small rock, and the medium type chisel can pry out medium to small large rock. The third type of chisel can pry out very big and tough rock but is rarely
ever used. The first two types of chisels are pictured.

Treasure 'Gem' Scoop
The 'gem' or rock scoop is used to pick up small rocks without bending over. It's very light, strong and long. Plus it's great for helping someone walk up a hill or up a ravine.
Shovels
The shovel is used for many types of rock-hounding. The main use for the shovel
is digging. It can make very big holes and help pry rocks from the holes. How large the hole and rocks are that you intend to pull from the ground helps determine the size shovel you need. A larger shovel can be better leverage for prying rocks out as well.

The Titan Gem/Rock Polisher
The Titan can be used for most rock-hound needs in polishing stones. It is able to grind and polish a stone into a work of art and beauty! There are numerous other types of polishing equipment that are available, but this one is favored by many, and one of the main pieces of equipment owned by the club.
